From pictorial outcome to original form. Morandi-esque, the exhibition at Casa Morandi

Casa Morandi is offering the Morandi-esque exhibition to the public from Sept. 25 to Dec. 1, 2019, with a workshop as the initial phase.

As part of the fifth edition of Bologna Design Week, Casa Morandi presents the Morandi-esque exhibition dedicated to the poetic universe of Giorgio Morandi, which will be open to the public from Sept. 25 to Dec. 1, 2019.

The atelier dwelling where the master lived and worked from 1910 to 1964 will display 3-D models inspired by nine still life paintings that were made by the famous artist. The initial phase of the representations took the form of a workshop designed and held in 2018 by Zaid Kashef Alghata, founder of House of ZKA, and dedicated to the relationship between architectural techniques and Morandi’s art.

Starting from theanalysis of a dozen paintings by the Bolognese artist, the participants redefined and redesigned these from an architectural point of view: they then started from the pictorial outcome to return to the original form in a sort of reversal of the Morandian creative process. Necessary proved to be a rigorous geometric method for tracing the silhouettes of the objects through the use of arcs and circles; the traces were later made three-dimensional through projections, keeping as reference the distance of the object from the horizon line present in the painting and their perspective angle.

Morandi-esque is curated by House of ZKA and organized by Istituzione Bologna Musei | Museo Morandi.
