In Ferrara, paintings by Augusto Daolio, founder of the Nomads, on display at Palazzina Marfisa d'Este

From June 18 to September 11, 2022, Ferrara's Palazzina Marfisa d'Este will host an exhibition featuring the paintings of Augusto Daolio. Besides being the founder and voice of Nomadi, he was also a painter and draftsman with surrealist roots.

Ferrara ’s Palazzina Marfisa d’Este will host from June 18 to Sept. 11, 2022 the paintings of Augusto Daolio, founder and vocalist of the famous musical group Nomadi, who died in 1992. Organized by the Municipality of Ferrara - Servizio Musei d’Arte and the Ferrara Arte Foundation in collaboration with the “Augusto per la vita” Association, the exhibition entitled Il respiro della natura is curated by Pietro Di Natale.

Augusto Daolio was also a painter and draftsman with surrealist roots. Born and living in Novellara, in the heart of Emilia, his main source of inspiration was nature, understood as the whole of all things that are born, live and transform, including man, “not always visible” in his “bewildered” landscapes, but which, he emphasized, “knows how to mix with things, swaps roles, becomes horse and tree.” The urgency to recount this condition and his interest, which emerged at an early age, in drawing led him to conceive, in his short but intense life, the works on display in the exhibition. Daolio illustrates a dreamlike, magical, highly evocative and symbolic world, in which we perceive a personal reflection on the relationship and continuity between man and nature, on the connections and affinities between living and inanimate beings, and on the astonishing, overwhelming, and ineffable beauty of creation.

Through June 12, the Palazzina is hosting the monographic exhibition Oltre lo sguardo, by photojournalist Arianna Di Romano, the brainchild of Vittorio Sgarbi and organized by the Ferrara Arte Foundation and the Art Museum Service of the City of Ferrara in collaboration with Kingford.
