A video game is born to learn about the territory of Spoleto and the Nera Valley

The Umbrian Chronicles, the cultural video game to discover the territory of Spoleto and the Nera Valley, is born.

A video game to enhance the territory of Spoleto and the Valnerina: The Umbrian Chronicles has been available for smartphones and tablets since Dec. 23.

Targeted by Entertainment Game Apps Ltd, it is a cultural video game that is part of the activities included in the project Museum Connections: between valleys and mountains, villages and cities presented by the Region of Umbria. A playful-narrative work that follows the vicissitudes of Ponzia, the protagonist: having come to Spoleto to write an article on the cultural life of the local area, she will visit museums, meet historical figures, learn about myths and tales, and also discover that the history of her origins is hidden in those very places.

To develop the video game, research was carried out regarding the eleven museum ven ues and in the five Umbrian municipalities involved, as well as other places.

Spoleto: Palazzo Collicola, Casa Romana, Museo del Tessuto e del Costume, Museo della Ex Ferrovia Spoleto-Norcia, Museo delle Miniere, MUST Museo di Scienze del Territorio - Laboratorio Scienze della Terra, Rocca Albornoziana - Museo Nazionale del Ducato di Spoleto, Museo Archeologico Nazionale e Teatro romano, Basilica di San Salvatore and Cimitero monumentale;
Cerreto di Spoleto: Museum of the Mummies, CEDRAV - Museum of the Charlatan;
Monteleone di Spoleto: Museum of the Biga, ruins Monastery of Santa Caterina;
Sant’Anatolia di Narco: Hemp Museum, Abbey of Saints Felice and Mauro, Piano delle Melette;
Vallo di Nera: House of Tales, Church of Santa Maria Assunta.

The cultural association IVIPRO also supported the research activity.

Thanks to the materials collected, the historical and cultural information necessary for the development of the plot of The Umbrian Chronicles was obtained; the game setting, on the other hand, features the main places of interest of the five municipalities involved, whose buildings were reproduced in 3D with a low poly aesthetic capable of making them, in a stylized but realistic way, immediately recognizable to the player. In this way, the video game is intended to be an educational tool that can be used both on site and off site.

Available on the Play Store (Android) and soon on the App Store (iOS).
