The collective Do you recognize me? I am a cultural heritage professional, which has always been committed to improving the conditions of cultural workers, has undertaken a challenging research on gender discrimination in the cultural sector. Indeed, the stories and daily experience, the group points out, bring to light a real problem, namely the precariousness and denial of rights that plague cultural workers are felt especially by female professionals. “In the world of work in our sector,” Mi riconosci declares, “precariousness subjects people to a blackmail mechanism that makes it very difficult to oppose injustice, and similar work relationships provide fertile ground for gender discrimination, placing female interns and precarious workers in vulnerable conditions. And even earlier, in the formative years, situations are often created in which teaching staff, often majority male, abuse power by leveraging gender.”

Hence the need to collect data to understand the true extent of the problem. Thus, I Recognize launched a questionnaire aimed at gathering information useful for the debate on gender issues in cultural work. The results, once collected and analyzed, will be made public. The questionnaire is open to everyone, women and men, and can be filled out at this link.
