The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice is once again proposing the “Gift Art” initiative for this year: the Venetian museum invites the public to choose as a Christmas gift a Membership Card, the subscription that allows free access to all the museums in the Guggenheim network and in several other Italian museums twelve months a year. The initiative aims to transform a simple Christmas thought into a gesture capable of supporting one of the most emblematic institutions on the Italian and international cultural scene, linked to the legacy and vision of Peggy Guggenheim.
The Membership Card is conceived as a privileged gateway to the network of Guggenheim museums, not only in Venice but also in New York and Bilbao. It offers its holders free entry to the three museum venues, which represent global reference points for twentieth-century artistic production and contemporary research. The benefit, moreover, is not limited to the Guggenheim circuit, but extends to a dense network of Italian institutions dedicated to modern and contemporary art, thus making it possible to build a broad and varied cultural itinerary throughout the year.
The museums included in the program include such key realities as the Castello di Rivoli, a leading player in the promotion of contemporary research, and the Luigi Rovati Foundation, which proposes an innovative dialogue between archaeology and modern art. They are joined by MART in Rovereto, with its collections and exhibition projects dedicated to the languages of the 20th century, and MAXXI in Rome, a national center for contemporary arts. The list continues with Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, site of major thematic exhibitions dedicated to international protagonists of modern and current art; Palazzo Maffei in Verona; and Pirelli Hangar Bicocca and Triennale Milano, both in Milan, venues for exhibitions, installations and reviews that explore the most advanced forms of contemporary creativity. These are just a few of the museums that join the circuit (with the Membership Card it is possible to visit them for free), making the Membership Card a tool that can multiply the opportunities for visits and cultural exploration.
The card not only offers free admission to affiliated institutions, but also guarantees participation in a series of activities designed to involve members directly, bringing them closer to the works, artists and creative processes. Those who choose to join will in fact have access to events, reserved guided tours, meetings and in-depth moments that allow them to explore themes and protagonists of modern and contemporary art in greater depth. Exhibition openings are also a privileged opportunity to discover new exhibitions in advance, getting in touch with a vibrant and international cultural environment.
Beginning in January 2026, members will also have the opportunity to take a new online art history course entitled Touched by Clay: from Lucio Fontana to Contemporary Practice. The program focuses on the relationship between material, gesture and artistic experimentation, analyzing the contributions of Fontana and other artists who worked with clay while reinterpreting its meaning and expressive potential. The course is reserved for those who support the Peggy Guggenheim Collection through the Membership Card, enriching its cultural offerings with educational content designed to deepen knowledge of artistic languages.
The Christmas proposal is also distinguished by the variety of levels available. Each type of card is built to respond to different passions, interests and ways of living the museum experience, offering flexibility to choose the most suitable solution for the recipient of the gift.
You can activate the Membership Card by Dec. 22. The basic card, Open Pass, which allows free access to museums and exclusive activities, costs 40 euros. However, there are different levels: Amici Individual (70 euros) offers the features of the Open Pass card, with the added option of participating in the opening nights. Amici Dual (95 euros) allows you to share the features of the Amici Individual card with another person. Also planned is a 100 euro Family Card, and cards for young people: Young Pass, reserved for young people between 18 and 25 years old, costs 20 euros, while Young Pass + friend, which allows the extension of benefits to another person, costs 25 euros. For all information you can visit the Peggy Guggenheim Collection website.
