Mickey Mouse and the Winged Minni, Disney's tribute to Brescia's famous restored statue

Mickey Mouse pays tribute to the return to Brescia and the restoration of the Winged Victory with a comic strip story.

Starting today, the new issue of Mickey Mouse is on newsstands, and a comic strip story inside celebrates the Winged Victory, among the most extraordinary bronze statues from the Roman era, which has returned to Brescia after two years of restoration. On the occasion of its return home, Incancellabile Vittoria, Emilio Isgrò ’s new monumental installationplaced on the north wall of the Metro’s Stazione FS station, was also inaugurated.

The story Mickey Mouse and the Adventure of the Winged Minny thus pays homage to the famous sculpture and its story: it was written by Roberto Gagnor and drawn by Valerio Held. A missed theft is recounted, that of Trudy and Peglegs who enter as thieves at the museum of Santa Giulia in Brescia, but remain hostage to an educational hologram that tells the story and the myth of the Winged Minny. The two thieves will thus take a journey through time, from ancient Greece to the present day.

In fact, the Disney story is inspired by the Winged Victory that arrived in Brescia during the Roman Empire and was discovered in 1826 during archaeological excavations in the city’s Roman temple.

The Brescia Musei Foundation and the City of Brescia will donate a copy of this issue of Mickey Mouse to all primary and kindergarten students in Brescia.
