Fabio Viale's tattooed works in Forte dei Marmi

Forte dei Marmi welcomes until September 3, 2017, the works of Fabio Viale with the exhibition Door Release

Inaugurated in Forte dei Marmi at the Fortino and the Piazza Garibaldi in front of it, the exhibition"Door Release" by Cuneo artist Fabio Viale.

Real tattooed works are on display in the Versilia town: starting with a 1:1 scale realization of one of the most famous works of late antique Roman sculpture, namely the hand of Constantine, the artist has tattooed it with signs of Soviet detention, creating a link and disorientation in the viewer between classical beauty and Russian tattoos. The hand titled Door Release, about two meters high, will be placed in front of the building’s entrance in Garibaldi Square, becoming a metaphorical gesture of openness to possible dimensions.

And more: the work Venus, a reproduction of the Venus de Milo, also tattooed, the Nike of Samothrace created with polystyrene effect, the two Kouros (fists) with signs of the Japanese mafia.

The exhibition has free admission and will remain open daily from 6 p.m. to midnight until Sept. 3, 2017.
Curated by Enrico Mattei, it is organized by the Culture and Tourism Department of the Municipality of Forte dei Marmi in collaboration with the Poggiali Gallery in Pietrasanta.
