Activated the agreement for training internships between Archaeological Park of Pompeii, ALES S.P.A. and Valore Italia - Botticino School of Restoration: field training and direct experience for student restorers.

Activated the agreement for training internships between Archaeological Park of Pompeii, ALES S.P.A. and Valore Italia - Botticino School of Restoration. Field training and direct experience for student restorers: this is the goal of the signed agreement. The agreement offers students of the Botticino School of Cultural Heritage Restoration degree program the opportunity to participate in monitoring activities and observe closely the maintenance sites of the archaeological site.

Thanks to the agreement, about fourteen students will be able to carry out curricular training internships divided into seven-week cycles, totaling 250 hours each. The trainees will be supported by staff from Ales, an in-house company of the Ministry of Culture, taking care of Pompeii’s scheduled maintenance. Indeed, archaeologists, architects, restorers, engineers and laborers work closely with park officials to ensure the conservation of masonry structures and decorated surfaces such as plaster, frescoes and mosaics.

The Botticino School of Restoration, founded in 1974 with the support of the Lombardy Region and the Central Institute for Restoration in Rome, has since 2019 been entrusted by the Fondazione Enaip Lombardia to the new legal entity, called Valore Italia. Based in Milan, the institute can count on important institutional partners-including the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), the Ministry of Culture (MIC), the Lombardy Region, the City of Milan and Hangar Bicocca-and since 2013 its degree programs have been officially recognized and accredited.

The signing of the agreement represents a significant step in building synergies between institutions that share the same mission: the protection, conservation and enhancement of the archaeological heritage.

“One of the main missions of the Park is the protection and conservation of the archaeological heritage,” says Park Director Gabriel Zuchtriegel. “And so the continuous training of professionals who will in the future be in charge of day-to-day care is the basis of these activities. Pompeii represents in this sense an exceptional experimental field where great professionalism operates every day, and we are very pleased as a Park to welcome and make available, through collaborations with our partners, the expertise of experts.”
