A new space dedicated tocontemporary art is appearing in the cultural landscape of the Veneto region. In fact, starting May 9, 2026, Ca’ Riviera, an independent project founded by Leonardo Tiezzi and Riccardo Corò, opens with the aim of creating a place for dialogue between art, design and contemporary aesthetic languages. Located in Mira, along the Riviera del Brenta, the new cultural hub is inserted in the international calendar in conjunction with the Venice Biennale, offering itself as an active reality all year round.
The name Ca’ Riviera recalls the local tradition and history of the area. “Ca’,” a Venetian term for “house,” evokes the noble residences of the Serenissima, while “riviera” refers to the river landscape that characterizes the area. The project finds its home in two historic 16th-century villas, transformed into an exhibition and residential space capable of hosting international artists, galleries and institutions, with a program that includes exhibitions, installations and residencies. The inauguration is entrusted to the group exhibition The Shape of the Self / La forma del Sé, created in collaboration with Cassina Projects. The exhibition project brings together artists of different generations and backgrounds, including Leonor Fini, Cecilia Granara, Yves Scherer, Chiara Capellini and Sedef Gali, united by a reflection on the theme of personal identity and its continuous redefinition. The path relates the twentieth-century avant-garde with contemporary practices, highlighting how the concept of self is subject to constant transformations. In the works of Leonor Fini, a central figure of Surrealism, the investigation of identity translates into a representation of the unconscious, in which the autobiographical dimension becomes a tool to interrogate the female and artistic condition. Cecilia Granara extends this reflection through a painting that opens to spiritual and collective dimensions, while Yves Scherer analyzes the boundary between reality and fiction, dwelling on the role of media and entertainment culture in the construction of contemporary images.
Also permanently located within the exhibition space are the works of Chiara Capellini and Sedef Gali, who establish a dialogue based on different but complementary approaches. Capellini’s installations investigate the concept of emptiness as a field of possibilities, interacting with architecture and light, while Gali’s paintings on organza introduce a suspended and immaterial dimension, in which color and gesture dissolve into translucent layers. Together, the two artists help define a curatorial line oriented toward experimentation and confrontation between different sensibilities.
With this first exhibition, Ca’ Riviera presents itself as a space that intends to go beyond the temporality of the events linked to the Biennale, proposing continuous programming and a vision that integrates historical heritage and contemporary research. The stated goal is to build lasting relationships between artists, public and institutions, in a context that enhances the dialogue between local dimension and international perspective.
The project was born from the meeting of complementary skills. Riccardo Corò, coming from the world of design and linked to the history of the villas hosting the center, developed a path between product design and site-specific installations. Leonardo Tiezzi, active in creative direction and communication in the fashion and luxury sector, brings a consolidated experience in building relationships between art, brand and community. The collaboration between the two founders results in a shared vision that aims to connect art, design and culture in a multidisciplinary context.
Alongside the exhibition programming, Ca’ Riviera also plans to launch a summer art residency, scheduled for August 2026, which will help strengthen the center’s role as a platform for production and research. In this way, the space is configured not only as a place of exhibition, but as an active laboratory, capable of generating new practices and stimulating confrontation between artists and community.
