Saturday, October 25, 2025 Santa Sofia (Forlì-Cesena) hosts the 65th edition of the Campigna Prize with the project Uncoded Entities - Entities not codified, curated by Lara Gaeta, with the participation of artists Cuoghi Corsello, Aja Ireland, Joey Holder and musician ToffoloMusik. The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Santa Sofia and organized in collaboration with Proloco di Santa Sofia, Cooperativa Atlantide, Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna and Rumors Association. It is coordinated by Institution, a local startup with an international scope created to develop innovative systems in the enjoyment of art and culture. The event, open to the public, will be accessible free of charge without the need for reservations.

The 2025 edition is part of the journey initiated by the “International Forum on the Sustainability of Cultural Institutions,” held in late September, which brought together dozens of international professionals to redefine the concept of sustainability, extending it from the environmental to the economic and social spheres. The forum was a time to compare and share innovative practices to imagine resilient actions in the cultural sector. For the Campigna Prize, the artists involved propose interpretations of the theme of sustainability through installations, interventions and performances in which visual and sound elements combine with equal intensity.

The project invites artists to interact with the natural and landscape context of Santa Sofia, overcoming conventional social categories and generating hybrid bodies that combine human, animal, plant and even alien characteristics, often through technological tools such as artificial intelligence. The works of Uncoded Entities - Uncoded Entities develop without predefined codes, proposing a vision of beauty, body and gender that transcends the boundaries of traditional imagination. Installations and performances take the form of presences that cannot be fully deciphered, with a magical, surreal and sometimes monstrous character, occupying symbolic places in the town and creating an organic path that reflects on the identity of these spaces and the memory of the inhabitants.

The Sala Milleluci, a historic Romagna dance hall that has recently been renovated, hosts the duo Cuoghi Corsello with the work Selettore No. 8 (1999), which has been refashioned for the venue. Consisting of six teardrop-shaped chandeliers, the installation activates light in a circular sense through internal and external sound pulses. The performance includes a vocal intervention by the duo and electronic sounds generated with Pure Data software. The work, donated by collector Vezio Tomasinelli, becomes part of the permanent endowment of the St. Sophia Sculpture Park.

The Mentor Theater hosts British sound and performance artist Aja Ireland together with visual artist Joey Holder. Together they present MoultMouth, a performance that explores the power of the contemporary female body through lights, video projections, psychedelic effects and electronic sounds. The performance showcases an unconventional, at times monstrous and queer femininity, while Joey Holder’s images, inspired by speculative biology, depict as yet unexplored life forms and possible future ecosystems.

Finally, the Vero Stoppioni Municipal Gallery of Contemporary Art offers a meditative context in which works take shape in a more reflective manner. On display are Cuoghi Corsello’s synotographies, digital images generated with artificial intelligence, and works by Aja Ireland and Joey Holder on the transformation and hybridization of bodies. The use of artificial intelligence creates novel scenarios that stimulate the imagination, fostering dialogue between artists and the public and promoting new perspectives on the relationship between human beings and nature.

The day closes with a musical intervention by Alessandro Zoffoli, aka ToffoloMuzik, a musician and producer from Cesena who uses recordings of sounds from different cultural and geographical contexts, integrating them into soundscapes that combine electronics and ethnic suggestions. The performance, curated by Rumors, concludes the artistic journey of the 65th edition of the Campigna Prize. The 2025 edition confirms Premio Campigna as a space for dialogue between visual arts, performance and music, integrating technology and innovation in cultural fruition.

Notes on the artists

Cuoghi Corsello was born in the late 1980s and developed a radical practice combining art, life and public space. Through street art, photography, sculpture, video and installations, the duo generates fantastic and surreal characters, transforming urban spaces into places of participation and imagination. Among the best-known figures are Pea Brain, Petronilla, Bello, Suf and Grandpa Degrade.

Aja Ireland, sound and performance artist, combines eerie noises and experimental techno with intense visuals. Her work explores the limits of perception and sensory overstimulation, as evidenced by her new album Cryptid, released in 2025.

Joey Holder works at the intersection of art, ecology and technology, creating installations that question how knowledge systems shape our perception of reality. His practice integrates collaboration with scientists, biologists and researchers for multimedia projects that reflect on data, magic and speculative cosmologies.

Alessandro Zoffoli - ToffoloMuzik trained in punk and dark in Cesena, moving through djing and world music to electronic experimentation. His works combine field recordings and digital manipulations, with an approach that combines history, culture and socio-political reflection.
