Turin, two major cultural institutes seek their new directors

In Turin, the Fondazione Polo del '900 and Artissima, two of the city's most important cultural institutions, are looking for new directors.

The top culture officials in Turin are changing, and two of the city’s most important institutions, the Fondazione Polo del ’900 and Artissima, are looking for their new directors to replace Alessandro Bollo and Ilaria Bonacossa, respectively. Both selections were launched in the past few hours.

The Polo del ’900 Foundation is looking for the figure who prepares proposals for general guidelines, the annual program of activities, the draft budget and final accounts and the Internal Regulations to be submitted to the Board of Directors, takes care of the ordinary management of the Foundation’s activities and the execution of Board resolutions, and oversees the main administrative aspects. The Director also manages the Foundation’s cultural activities, and plays a decisive role in maintaining and developing a climate of positive coordination with participating entities and other entities involved in strengthening partnerships at the local and supra-local levels and developing cultural pathways to achieve social goals, as well as in overseeing and augmenting the operational and organizational set-up in order to pursue economically sustainable goals (service development, fundraising activities, membership, European planning, etc.). Applications are open until September 27, 2021, and more information can be found on the Polo del ’900 website.

On the other side of the city, the Fondazione Torino Musei is opening a non-binding selection process for the search for the artistic director of Artissima, Turin’s International Contemporary Art Fair, with which the foundation intends to solicit and collect expressions of interest from qualified individuals who meet the requirements. The director will be responsible for the conception, development and implementation of the commercial and cultural project of the fair, with the task of consolidating the international positioning of Artissima, ensuring the quality of the artistic proposal and promoting management and commercial policies, aimed at increasing its profitability and developing the brand, through the conception and implementation of special projects. The appointment will last three years, for the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions, with the possibility of extension for another two years. The ideal profile, the foundation says, includes a qualified specialized knowledge of international contemporary art, established relationships in the contemporary art market, and having gained responsible experience in business management, event management, marketing and public relations, and development of digital activities, preferably related to the art market. Applications in this case are open until 12 noon on Sept. 13, 2021, via email at PEC segreteria.ftm@pec.it. All information can be read in the call for applications.
