Alba is the Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2027: the official recognition


The Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, announced Alba in Rome today as the winning city for the Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2027, rewarding the cultural value and planning ability that emerged in the candidacy dossier.

Today in Rome, the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, officially designated Alba as the Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2027, recognizing the cultural value and planning capacity that characterized the candidacy. The announcement was made in the Ministry’s Sala Spadolini, during an event streamed live on the Ministry of Culture’s YouTube channel.

Four municipalities were the finalists, accompanied by their respective candidacy dossiers:

  • ALBA (Cuneo) with the dossier “The Wind Factories”

  • FOLIGNO (Perugia) in aggregation with SPOLETO, with the dossier “Foligno-Spoleto in Contemporanea”

  • PIETRASANTA (Lucca) with the dossier “Being Art. Or of the humanity of art.”

  • TERMOLI (Campobasso) with the dossier “Contemporary Trajectories.”

The winning city will receive a grant of 1 million euros earmarked for the implementation of the cultural program presented in the dossier. The title will be officially awarded by resolution of the Council of Ministers, upon the proposal of the Minister of Culture, in accordance with the recommendation of the Jury.
