Heritage School Foundation, five webinars for professionals on digitizing cultural heritage

The Digital Library of the Ministry of Culture and the Foundation School of Cultural Heritage and Activities are offering a series of five public webinars aimed at cultural heritage professionals and scholars on the digital transition.

The Digital Library of the Ministry of Culture and the Foundation School of Cultural Heritage and Activities are offering a series of five public webinars in the period November 2021-January 2022, starting November 8, aimed at cultural heritage professionals and scholars, as a preliminary and preparatory phase aimed at better designing the future training plan.

In fact, the digitization of cultural heritage is the basis of the digital skills training and updating initiatives promoted by the Central Institute for the Digitization of Cultural Heritage - Digital Library of the Ministry of Culture and the Foundation School of Cultural Heritage and Activities. An offer, aimed at the various professionals involved in the care and management of cultural heritage, which aims to accompany professionals in the sector and users in general throughout the entire digital transition process.

The initiative is therefore aimed at the multiple types of actors working in the cultural heritage sector (public employees; private employees and professionals; researchers). The webinar series, available free of charge on the Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali’s distance learning platform(fad.fondazionescuolapatrimonio.it), aims to create relationships among professionals and build a common language useful for understanding the National Plan for the Digitization of Cultural Heritage (PND).

It will start on Nov. 8 in the afternoon, again from 4 to 6 p.m., and the first four meetings will each be dedicated to a different thematic area, offering themselves as public conversations between two speakers from different disciplinary backgrounds. Implications and opportunities of the digital transition process will be analyzed from a cultural perspective, in management, legal and technological perspectives. The fifth event, curated by the Digital Library and the Foundation School of Cultural Heritage and Activities, is scheduled for January 18, 2022, and on this occasion will reflect on professions and skills between digital and cultural heritage.

The Foundation School of Cultural Heritage and Activities is carrying out a context analysis aimed at identifying the skills needs, both existing and emerging, including at the European level, regarding the policies set out in the National Plan for the Digitization of Cultural Heritage.

The five webinars are thus an opportunity to kick off a shared path of comparison and transition and to conceive and use a common language: a digital circle in which to promote reflections, explore relationships and define methods.
