Open until June 27, 2023, is the call for applications to participate in the second edition of Toolkit for museum, the free continuing education course aimed at museum professionals curated by the Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali in collaboration with ICOM International Council of Museums Italia.

The project involves five prestigious Italian museum institutions that will host some moments of the course, actively contributing to the training offer; for the second edition of "Toolkit for museum" the partners are: Settore Musei Civici Bologna | MAMbo - Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna; Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia; Musei Civici di Reggio Emilia; Parco Archeologico del Colosseo; Gallerie d’Italia di Intesa Sanpaolo (Naples).

The project aims to enhance the specificity of the multiple roles that contribute to the daily activities of a museum, without losing sight of the value of teamwork, and is aimed at four key functions of museum management: the curator; the registrar; the head of educational services; the communicator.

The call for applications is open until 1 p.m. next June 27 and is reserved for 60 participants. All those professionals already working in or for public and private museums who want to increase their knowledge and skills are invited to apply. The training activities, including moments of theoretical reflection and practical activities, will be scheduled from September to December 2023 and will take place largely at partner museums , allowing participants to get into the heart of museum work and learn about its daily practices.

The first edition had gathered more than 660 applications, including 400 from candidates under 35. Also for this edition, in the scientific coordination of the initiative, the Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali is supported by an Advisory Board composed of high-profile professionals in the field: Martina Bagnoli, Director of the Estensi Galleries, Lorenzo Balbi, Director of the Bologna Civic Museums Sector - MAMbo Museum of Modern Art of Bologna and President AMACI Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums, Laura Barreca, Director of the Civic Museum of Castelbuono (Palermo) and Scientific Director of mudaC | Carrara Museum of Arts, Gabriella Belli, former Director Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, Francesco Casetti, Sterling Professor of Humanities Film and Media Studies at Yale University, Christian Greco, Director of the Egyptian Museum in Turin, Adele Maresca Compagna, Vice-President of ICOM International Council of Museums Italia, Nicolette Mandarano, Digital Media Curator of the Gallerie Nazionali di Arte Antica, and Mariella Utili, former Director of the Ministry of Culture.
