Participants can decide whether to enroll in one or both modules. For all the info and details to participate in the first edition of ART CAMP, visit www.palazzostrozzi.org

Below is the program of the modules.

MODULE A

Art Camp with Maria Pecchioli (June 28-July 2, 2021 and July 12-July 16, 2021)
Maria Pecchioli’s Art Camp focuses on the possibility of finding affinity-or aversion-to our surroundings, and our ability to appropriate and rework external stimuli. The processes of appropriation, imitation and copying typical of art and art education are adopted and reinterpreted within the weekly workshop as steps for the creation of a collective artistic work based on the rhythmic nature of composition. Through a series of group experiences to be carried out inside and outside the spaces of Palazzo Strozzi, participants will be able to work with the artist and compose together the pieces of a process of artistic creation based on the sharing and resonance between individuals, environment and art.

Maria Pecchioli is an artist who lives and works in Florence. Her works are reflections dedicated to the use of the body understood as an instrument of social representation. In her works she employs multiple artistic languages, from performance to video, with which she builds processes of engagement, care and community building.

MODULE B

Photoresistance with Justin Randolph Thompson, Silvia Rosi and Binta Diaw (Black History Month Florence) (July 5-July 9, 2021 and July 19-July 23, 2021)
The Art Camp developed by artists Justin Randolph Thompson, Silvia Rosi and Binta Diaw offers an experience dedicated to the ways we record our memory through art, from family photographs to monuments in squares. Explorations of the city, interviews with representatives of the National Association of Partisans Oltrarno and experimentation with techniques such as photographic transfers on canvas are some of the ingredients of this week-long workshop for teens.

Justin Randolph Thompson is a multimedia artist, cultural facilitator and educator who lives and works between Italy and the United States. In his works he analyzes and depicts the complexity of the layers and hierarchies that make up society. He is the director and co-founder of Black History Month Florence.
Silvia Rosi is an artist who lives and works between Modena and London. The theme of family is always recurring in her works and for the artist it is a way to investigate her experience as a migrant from Togo to Italy.
Binta Diaw is an Italian-Senegalese artist who lives and works in Milan. Her installations often refer to issues such as migration phenomena, the concept of identity and the role of women in society.
