Summer at the Uffizi, special visits and tours for under-30s and families

"R-summer with art!" returns with a wide-ranging program of guided tours and experiences at museum complex venues. In 2025, a series of events reserved for under-30s kicks off: focus on artists' biographies, socialization and contemporary readings of works.

With the arrival of summer, the appointment with R-summer with art is renewed!, the educational program promoted by the Uffizi Galleries in collaboration with Unicoop Firenze. Also for 2025, the Florentine museum complex confirms its commitment to open to a diverse audience, articulating a series of routes designed to encourage the active participation of young people and families. New for this edition is a cycle of visits reserved exclusively for the under-30s, designed to transform the museum into a place for meeting and sharing, where the personal stories of the artists become an opportunity to reflect on issues that are still relevant today.

The visits dedicated to younger people will take place on Thursdays in the late afternoon, a time slot chosen to facilitate participation and then allow visitors to enjoy the city even after the museum experience. The title of the tour, Living in Color! Brushstrokes of Artists’ Stories, already announces the approach taken: the masterpieces in the collections will in fact be a starting point for approaching the human dimension of those who created it. The visits will highlight the difficulties, impulses, ambitions and strategies with which the artists approached their formative and professional paths, offering a more direct and personal look at the world of artistic creation. Inside the Gallery of Modern Art, two tours designed to complement the experience and develop other insights will be offered. The first, entitled The Best of Youth. Lives of artists between desires, passions and revolutions, rereads works between the 19th and 20th centuries from a biographical point of view, with a focus on the role that some artists played in the major historical events of their time. The works thus become testimonies of choices, stances, participation or dissent, helping to delineate a dense web of relationships between history, art and civic responsibility.

The second path, Anthologies, introduces a more synaesthetic experience: the reading of the paintings and sculptures is interwoven with musical listening and poetry readings, creating an environment that relates word, image and sound, in the desire to engage the visitor on multiple perceptual levels. Alongside the program for young people, the calendar of activities dedicated to families also remains solid, who can participate in thematic meetings at the Uffizi Galleries, Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens. The itineraries are built to enhance interaction between adults and children, offering experiences that combine discovery, play and cultural insight.

At the Uffizi, the Uffizi Celebrities route will allow visitors to get up close and personal with some of the most emblematic figures in art history. Those who wish to be guided through an itinerary inspired by nature can instead follow Fiori agli Uffizi, while Discovering the Painters’ Secrets will focus on the tools and materials of panel painting, with an in-depth look at the techniques that characterize the oldest paintings in the collection.

The Uffizi ai quattro sensi (Uffizi to the four senses) route is also proposed again, after last year’s success, inviting adults and children to interact with the works but also thanks to the other senses, in an inclusive and experimental logic. The program also continues at the Pitti Palace, where the Pitti Celebrities route will be dedicated to a first acquaintance with the museum’s works, while A spasso nella reggia delle meraviglie will guide families to discover the everyday life of the dynasties that inhabited the palace. Also among the proposed activities is Explorers at the Pitti Palace, a treasure hunt designed to stimulate observation and curiosity, bringing logical and intuitive skills into play. In the Modern Art Gallery of Palazzo Pitti, the Di bimbi e d’affetti path will take participants on a journey through images that tell the story of the relationship between adults and children, highlighting the affective dimension of family life through artistic representations. Finally, the Boboli Gardens will be the scene of numerous itineraries exploring the different souls of this historic Italian park. Discovering the Secrets of the Garden will reveal curiosities and lesser-known aspects of the Medici garden, while The Forms of Water will allow visitors to imagine the ancient water games that once animated its monumental fountains. The sounds of the plant and animal world will be the focus of the Melodies at Boboli trail, and with AsSeeds Travel , children will be accompanied to discover the stories of migration and acclimatization of the plants in the garden.
