The Casina di Raffaello is offering two free days of workshops, activities and readings on November 23 and 24, 2019, to mark Children's Rights Day.

On the occasion of the International Day for the Rights of Children and Adolescents, Casina di Raffaello is offering Playing is a Right, two free days of workshops, meetings and readings on November 23 and 24, 2019. The event is organized in collaboration with Centro Agroalimentare Roma, Emergency, Fatatrac Editrice with Amnesty International, Italian Rugby Federation (F.I.R.), Italian Taekwondo Federation (FITA), Internationale Kids, and Save the Children.

LABORATORY “THE WOOD OF RIGHTS” organized by Fatatrac Editrice with Gloria Francella and Amnesty International
11 a.m./12 p.m. Lab Room - max 25 boys and girls from 5 to 8 years old
Reading and workshop from the book “Children are born to be happy”: creation of a three-dimensional forest of trees-rights, each participant will build the tree inspired by his or her favorite right such as having a snack, swimming after lunch, celebrating a birthday for a week...

LABORATORY “THE ENCHANTED TREE” by Emergency
11 a.m.-12 p.m. Theater Hall - max. 25 boys and girls ages 5 to 8 years old
An Afghan fairy tale told to EMERGENCY staff by young patients at the hospital in Kabul. The children will learn about culture and customs different from their own, confronting the common themes of peace and solidarity. The story is taken from the book “The Enchanted Tree - A Fairy Tale from Afghanistan. Stories boundless” - Carthusia, 2004.

Each child has his or her own favorite game: some like to hide, some like to race their bikes, some like to make a snack for their doll, some like to have a toy car race. During the workshop everyone will choose a game to represent on a piece of cardboard colored with different textures. Joining the pieces together will form a large installation full of the games that all children have the right to have fun with.

LABORATORY “MEDICINE FOR PEACE” by Emergency
12 noon-1 p.m. Theater Hall - maximum 25 boys and girls ages 9 to 14.
Through a workshop, children will have to come up with a list of seven “medicines” that make up their remedy against war. An introductory presentation will tell about the activities of EMERGENCY’s humanitarian projects, to illustrate the values the Association has chosen to practice peace.

WORKSHOP “THE RIGHTS OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS. AN INTERACTIVE ACTIVITY TO KNOW AND DIVULGATE THE UN CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENCE” by Save the Children
2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Lab Room - max. 20 boys and girls ages 5-7
3 p.m.-4 p.m. Lab Room - max 20 boys and girls ages 8 to 10 years old
During the workshop, boys and girls will learn about the rights of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Adolescent by playing with picture cards depicting the 42 articles of the Convention. The rights game is contained within “RisKit,” a game created by Save the Children to promote children’s and adolescents’ rights and knowledge of local risks, on the occasion of the National Day for Safety in Schools, which falls on Nov. 22 each year.

LABORATORY “TRAVELING WITH RIGHTS” by Save the Children

The workshop activity will be divided into two phases. In the first phase, a game will be made with rights cards; the activity of reading by the children will be alternated with comments and projections. At a later stage, each child will be invited to create his or her own charter of rights through a graphic- pictorial elaboration and to write a thought/poem about the rights they were inspired by.

An immersive experience in Emergency’s hospitals in Afghanistan. Wearing visors it will be possible to discover Emergency’s work on behalf of war victims.

RUGBY TRIAL LESSONS by the Italian Rugby Federation.
