IULM, new edition of Master's degree in Management of Art and Cultural Resources

The 16th edition of the IULM Master's program in Rome for a.y. 2025/2026 kicks off: multidisciplinary training, project work and internships to prepare professionals capable of leading the transformation of the cultural sector with strategic vision, innovation and managerial skills. Here is all the information.

IULM University renews its commitment to the training of cultural professionals with the 16th edition of the University Master’s in Management of Artistic and Cultural Resources, scheduled for the 2025/2026 academic year at its Rome campus. It is a pathway that offers tools to those who wish to pursue a career in the management of creative and cultural institutions.

This new edition comes in a context characterized by profound transformations: the digital transition, the growing focus on sustainability, the urgency of inclusive and participatory models, and new cultural design practices. These are all challenges that require skills capable of combining strategic vision and concrete operations, skills that the Master’s course aims to transmit to participants through an interdisciplinary and multidimensional approach.

The course is aimed at graduates from humanities, social sciences, economics or law fields, interested in working in different sectors: from museums to foundations, from public bodies to creative enterprises, from festivals to art institutions, from cultural associations to research centers, and even specialized communication agencies. The philosophy of the Master’s program is to overcome the traditional separation between humanistic knowledge and managerial needs, integrating economic, organizational and communication knowledge with cultural and artistic sensitivity.

The training is divided into eight thematic modules, which address the central issues of cultural management. Topics range from governance and legislation to organizational and managerial dynamics, from heritage enhancement to cultural design practices, with a constant focus on issues of sustainability and digital innovation. Rounding out the picture are insights on marketing, communication and business English.

An important role is given to the laboratory dimension: students will be involved in seminars, meetings with professionals and experts, and above all in collective project work. This practical exercise represents a central moment of the course, because it allows enrollees to directly experience the conception and organization of a cultural event, putting into practice the knowledge acquired in the classroom and developing teamwork skills.

The link with the world of work is further strengthened by the possibility of a curricular internship lasting between three and six months at selected museums, foundations, public or private entities. The Master’s network of partnerships guarantees access to stimulating contexts, both nationally and internationally, with the aim of fostering the professional insertion of students and enhancing the skills acquired.

Teaching will take place in Rome, on the IULM campus, from January to July 2026, with compulsory attendance three days a week - Monday through Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The curriculum includes more than 450 hours of face-to-face lectures, for an overall total of 1,500 hours and the achievement of 60 university credits. The conclusion of the course is marked by an individual final exam, which allows to verify and consolidate the work done. Access to the Master’s program is limited: for the 2025/2026 edition there is a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 35 participants. Selection is made through the evaluation of qualifications and an individual motivational interview, aimed at verifying the candidates’ starting skills and aspirations. The registration fee is set at 3,500 euros.

Thanks to the support of the Fondazione Roma, 30 scholarships have been made available: 20 will fully cover the participation fee, while 10 will offer partial coverage of 2,500 euros. The allocation will be made on the basis of merit and personal motivation, with an age limit set at 40. This is a significant opportunity that makes the Master’s program accessible to a wider number of young professionals willing to invest in their education.
