A 19th-century painting by Venosian artist Giacomo Di Chirico was stolen from the National Museum in Matera. Carabinieri investigations are under way.

In recent days a 19th-century painting by Venosian artist Giacomo Di Chirico(Venosa, 1844 - Aversa, 1883) was stolen from the Palazzo Lanfranchi premises of the Matera National Museum. It is Snow Effect, dating from the seventh decade of the 19th century and belonging to the Camillo D’Errico Collection in Palazzo San Gervasio. Investigations are under way by the Carabinieri of the Matera Company and the Nucleo Tutela Patrimonio Culturale of Bari to clarify the dynamics of the incident.
